Taylorsville Economic Development Update
NEW RETAIL LIFE COMING TO TAYLORSVILLE
TWO CENTERS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP
For decades the intersection of 5400 South and Redwood Road has been the retail center of Taylorsville. Over the years, different businesses have called these corners home, but recently there have been too many darkened storefronts in the area.
Now all that is changing.
The former Plaza 5400 on the northwest corner was purchased by Legacy Real Estate Investments in early 2015. The newly-named Legacy Plaza at 54th hosted the first big step forward in March as the former Furniture Warehouse building was demolished to make way for several new buildings that will house more than a dozen new businesses. Announced new tenants include Zaxby's Chicken, Beans & Brews, Cubby's, GNC, Five Guys Burger and Fries, Mattress Firm, and Chi-Ku Asian Kitchen.
The former Family Center at Taylorsville on the southwest corner has also come under new ownership in the past year. The new owner, TriGate Capital, has contracted with S Squared Development to bring new life to this center.
One of their first steps was to rename it The Crossroads of Taylorsville. In June 2015 some of the old, vacant buildings began coming down to be replaced by new structures. A Regal Cinemas luxury theatre--the first of this chain in Utah--will be built to the north of FYE; it is slated to hold its grand opening in November 2016.
On January 11, 2016, Cafe Rio opened the doors of its new location in The Crossroads. Bee Wireless will soon join them in the same new building. A variety of retail stores and multiple new restaurants with various cuisines and serving formats are also being added to the center.
CLASS A OFFICE COMPLEX UNDER CONSTRUCTION
The vacant property north of American Express, between 2700 West and I-215, is the location of the exciting new Crescent Corporate Center.
This three-building Class A office park is a vibrant addition to the Unified State Labs and American Express Service Center that are currently located on 2700 West. Crescent Corporate Center will contain over 300,000 square feet of leasable space, atriums, structured parking, landscaping, and very distinct architecture. The office buildings are flexibly designed to accommodate business from small operations to corporate headquarters.
