The City of Taylorsville contracts with various public agencies and private companies for most of the municipal services provided to Taylorsville residents and businesses. This helps keep City costs and taxes low. Because of this, the City has a small staff of full-time and part-time employees in addition to a full-time Mayor and five part-time City Council members.

Job Description
Title: Judicial Assistant 1     Grade:  8
Department:  Court

PRIMARY DUTY

Performs all in court related duties, including attending hearings, administering oaths, mark/record exhibits, make records, jury management, courtroom preparation, recording outcomes, preparing/distributing orders, etc.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the close supervision of the Clerk of the Court.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
This position has no supervision requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position has three career levels where additional skills and responsibilities may be required.
Attends hearings and trials. Administers oaths, marks and records exhibits. Makes verbatim audio/video records, prepares minute entries and maintains copies of court records. Jury management, tape management and copies and courtroom preparation. Records outcomes of hearings and trials. Prepares and distributes orders and schedules in court interpreters. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Education and Experience:
A. High school equivalency;
AND
B. Internal candidates: Judicial Services Representative 3 or higher;
OR
C. External candidates: Four years of related experience
2. Essential Functions, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of court procedures and rules, court expertise, communication skills, ability to manage time effectively, and ability to multi-task. Basic computer knowledge, and technologically savvy.
3. Criminal Background Check:
The applicant must successfully pass a criminal history check.  
4. Schedule Description:  
Full-time, permanent position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 - 5:00
5.  Work Environment:  
Incumbent of the position performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls.  Tasks require variety of physical activities,
not generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing and seeing. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity exist.  Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking and creative problem solving.  Periodic travel may be required in normal course of job performance.

Job Description
Title: Groundskeeper – Part-time                      Grade:     8

PRIMARY DUTY
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the physical appearance of the grounds of city owned property including mandatory snow removal, landscaping duties such as maintaining and planting flowers, shrubs, and trees.  The Groundskeeper will also be responsible for cleaning the grounds, as well as the removal of litter.   Maintains job related grounds keeping equipment (hand tools, mowers, spreaders, snow blowers,etc.) in safe operating condition.  
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the supervision of the Facilities Manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job does not usually exercise supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Repair sprinkling systems, pick up litter, weed overgrown areas, snow removal, maintain power equipment such as mowers, edger, trimmers, and snow blowers, tree maintenance, lawn maintenance, remove noxious weeds, maintain perennial and annual plants.  Must be a self-starter who can work well with people at all levels.
Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Education and Experience:
High school equivalency
2. Essential Functions, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  A. Excellent communication/customer service skills. B. Mandatory functional knowledge in maintenance trades such as general outside maintenance and landscaping, basic electrical, basic plumbing, sprinkler systems, snow removal, and graffiti removal. C. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, including extreme cold and extreme heat. D. Ability to handle multiple tasks. E. Must have the ability to move and lift a minimum of 75 pounds with heavier weight necessary at times. F.  Completes work in a timely manner.  G.  Dependability - is consistently at work and on time, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance. H.  Safety and security - observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly. I. Must be in good physical condition.
J. Must have a valid Utah Driver’s License  K. Performs other duties as assigned
2. Work Environment:
Incumbent of the position performs tasks that require variety of physical activities related to sitting, talking, hearing, and seeing. Driving, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, feeling, reaching, lifting, grasping, twisting above the waist, bending at the waist, repetitive hand and arm motion, and fine finger manipulation in the use of a computer. Climb ladders; enter crawl spaces, exertion of force. Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking and some creative problem solving.
3. Schedule Description:  
Part-time, permanent position.  20-25 hours per week.
