Youth Ambassador Application | Application 2010-2012

TAYLORSVILLE YOUTH AMBASSADOR OVERVIEW

The City of Taylorsville will accept applications for the 2011-2012 "Taylorsville Youth Ambassadors" program beginning in August 2011. The following information describes the protocol for selecting Taylorsville Youth Ambassadors:

  • Two young men and two young women will be selected to be “Taylorsville Youth Ambassadors.”
  • Ambassadors will serve for a period of one year, chosen each fall during September.  Each ambassador can only serve one term.
  • Ambassadors will be chosen by a selection panel made up of the Mayor, one member of the City Council, one representative from a Taylorsville secondary school, one resident, and one member of a local service organization.
  • Duties will include participating in ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, City ceremonies, service projects, and parades (on the City float).
  • Ambassadors will be provided with a blazer or vest with the City logo to identify them as Taylorsville youth representatives.
  • Each ambassador will be awarded with a $750 scholarship to be used at any institution of higher learning, which they choose.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION PROCEDURE:

  • Age 17-21
  • Minimum grade point average of 2.0
  • Submit a written platform for a community service project 
  • Letters of recommendation (minimum two, one must come from a representative of  the  school, or an employer – others can be from neighbors, friends, ecclesiastical leaders, etc.)
  • Oral interview by selection panel 
  • Applicant must reside in Taylorsville
  • Application will include a resume of previous extra-curricular activities
