The Taylorsville Public Safety Committee is hosting its Night Out Against Crime on Friday, Aug. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Centennial Plaza.
It's also a Friday Starry Nights @the Plaza event so the food trucks will be there from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and there will be free live music on the plaza stage. Come learn about ways to keep your neighborhood safe and have some fun, too. Activities and sights planned include:
- AirMed helicopter landing, tours and takeoff
- Our Police Department and some cool vehicles
- A K-9 demonstration
- Our Fire Department and some cool vehicles
- A fire simulation trailer
- Earthquake safety tips
- UHP's seat belt convincer — the chance to "ride out" a fake crash, a really slow crash!
- Animal Control
- Crime maps and information on Neighborhood Watch
- Several businesses and community service teams will hand out information and giveaways
