Juneteenth

City Offices are Closed, Reopening on Tuesday

  • Date: 06/15/2026  (all day)
  • Introduction: State Holiday

Happy Juneteenth! City Offices are closed on Monday, June 15, in honor of Juneteenth, a federal and state holiday commemorating emancipation of enslaved African Americans.

Juneteenth's commemoration marks the anniversary date of June 19, 1865, when freedom was proclaimed for enslaved people in Texas, the last state of the confederacy with institutional slavery. In Utah, state law designates that the holiday is observed this year on the preceding Monday.
