Taylorsville Youth Council members help family in need
Thanksgiving is the time of year when we turn our thoughts to remembering the things that we are grateful for and expressing thanks to our friends and family for our comforts and goodwill. In that spirit, the Taylorsville Youth Council turned their thoughts and energies to a family in need.
On Nov. 20, the Youth Council met at a local grocery store and, with a list in hand, gathered all the fixings for a scrumptious Thanksgiving meal.
Once the groceries were purchased, off they went to deliver the meal to the family. With smiles on their faces and a humble attitude, they presented the meal and wished the family a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving.
Youth Council Advisor Kris Heineman said the family was overwhelmed with the kindness and kept repeating their thanks to these young people who acted with a grace beyond their years.
"Members of the Taylorsville Youth Council are service-minded, kind-hearted teenagers who gave hope and gratitude to a family in need," Heineman said. "We very much appreciate them and their efforts."
For Christmas, the Youth Council will be providing gifts for a family through the Sub-for-Santa program. If you would like to help, the youth are accepting donations of gift cards to give to the family. They can be dropped off at the second-floor receptionist's desk at City Hall.
