Sign up for curbside glass recycling
Curbside glass recycling is now available to Taylorsville residents.
This optional monthly service is provided by Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District (WFWRD) in partnership with Momentum Recycling (Utah’s only glass recycling facility located nearby in Salt Lake City).
A one-time startup fee of $45 provides you with a small 35-gallon wheeled can specifically for glass recycling. The monthly collection service is just $8 per month.
WFWRD coordinates the billing and can delivery, while Momentum Recycling provides the monthly collection service. All colors of glass bottles and jars are accepted, and there is no need to rinse with water or remove labels. Simply place all of the glass directly in your can.
You can sign up for the service here. Initial subscribers will receive their glass recycling can in March, with the first collection occurring on Tuesday, April 14.
What makes glass unique among other recyclable commodities (such as aluminum) is that it directly benefits Utah’s economy in that it is collected, processed and used by local industry. Recycling glass helps create local jobs, extend the life of our landfill and keep waste disposal costs down.
“Since 2008, our mission has been to move communities towards zero waste. The outpouring of support for glass recycling from residents has been remarkable,” said Jason Utgaard, General Manager at Momentum Recycling.
The curbside service is completely optional. If not participating, you can also recycle glass by taking items to a public recycling location near you. Find one here.
