For years, the steady crowd outside Texas Roadhouse on 5400 South has been a familiar sight in Taylorsville. Now, the well-known steakhouse has a little more room to welcome guests.

City and ChamberWest officials joined restaurant leaders Feb. 2 to mark the completion of an expansion at the location, 1904 W. 5400 South. The project adds 60 seats to the existing building, allowing the restaurant to serve even more diners.

Texas Roadhouse operates more than 700 locations nationwide, including the Taylorsville restaurant. The chain is known for its lively southwestern decor, hand-cut steaks, ribs, made-from-scratch sides and fresh-baked rolls.

“It was eight years ago to the day that we were there cutting the ribbon on the original building as they moved across the street,” Mayor Kristie Overson said at a recent City Council meeting. “They have such a successful business there, and they are thriving in Utah. In fact, they’re No. 1 in their market.”

“So, when they added those extra 60 seats, what a difference that’s going to make for them and for the city,” she added. “It was such a fun event, and they are so supportive of Taylorsville and especially our Taylorsville Police Department. They reach out all the time and we do a lot of things in partnership with them, so we’re really happy for Texas Roadhouse.”
