Cool SchoolTaylorsville High School is in the spotlight after being named a “Cool School of the Week,” a recognition that celebrates the school’s spirited students, athletic success and strong arts and academic programs.

The honor, recently bestowed by local news outlet Fox 13, highlights what makes Taylorsville High a standout, with kindness and school pride as recurring themes.

“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and heart of everyone at Taylorsville High,” said Mayor Kristie Overson. “Our community is so proud to see our students excelling and representing our city with such positivity.”

The school’s recognition underscores the importance of a well-rounded education that balances academics with extracurricular involvement. Clubs, student leadership programs and community service opportunities help students grow beyond the classroom, while performing arts, athletics and academic initiatives foster teamwork, creativity and resilience.

For students like senior Emma Johnson, the recognition feels personal. “It’s exciting to see our school’s spirit and talent recognized,” she told the news station. “Everyone here works hard, and it’s amazing to be celebrated for it.”

Teachers and coaches earned specific praise, including Mr. William Jensen, a music educator with more than four decades of service, and the cross-country teams, with both girls and boys squads enjoying recent region championships and success at the state level.

“Taylorsville High is a shining example of what makes our community strong, and we couldn’t be prouder of the culture of excellence and heart that fills these halls every day,” Mayor Overson said.
