Like Summit Park, construction is now underway on the next phase of improvements at Taylorsville Park, bringing additional features that will further enhance the revitalized community space by late fall.
This second phase focuses on connectivity, access and overall park experience, building on the momentum of the park’s recently completed first phase. The improvements are designed to better link key areas of the park while enhancing both usability and aesthetics for visitors of all ages.
“This latest work is all about making the park more complete, more connected and even more welcoming for everyone who visits,” Mayor Kristie Overson said.
New amenities will include a circular walking path, a new park entrance at the corner of Redwood Road and 4700 South, expanded landscaping, upgraded irrigation systems and an additional pavilion for gatherings and events. Crews also will plant 120 new trees, adding shade and beauty throughout the park.
Located at 4721 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville Park sits adjacent to the Taylorsville Senior Center and serves as a central gathering place for the community.
The park’s first phase, completed last year, introduced several major upgrades, including a new playground, restrooms, basketball court, pavilion and expanded parking. A standout feature is the skate park, which has become a popular destination for local skating enthusiasts. The addition of pickleball courts near the Senior Center and improved roadway access from Redwood Road also have helped transform the park into a more inviting and accessible space.
“We are already seeing how beloved this park is,” Mayor Overson said. “It is a part of people’s lives, a wonderful space where families naturally gather, kids are playing, skating and having fun and neighbors come together to visit.”
City leaders called the initial phase a significant step forward in revitalizing one of Taylorsville’s long-standing parks, with the goal of creating a place where residents can gather, stay active and enjoy the outdoors. The park’s transformation comes as the city continues to invest in neighborhood parks and community spaces across Taylorsville, including the brand-new Summit Park, which has quickly become a popular destination for families with its playground, pickleball courts, pavilion and open gathering areas.
Since reopening after the first phase of construction, Taylorsville Park has seen steady use from visitors taking advantage of its updated amenities. The improvements now underway are designed to build on that success, creating more opportunities for walking, relaxation and community connection.
When completed later this fall, the full project will offer a more cohesive and fully developed park experience, with improved circulation, additional gathering spaces and a stronger ties to the surrounding area.
“Taylorsville Park is quickly becoming a place where people want to spend time,” Mayor Overson said. “With these continued improvements, it will serve our community well for years to come.”
