An Evening of Art 2025
Meet the Artists: Evening of Art Set for Oct. 20
Three artists will be presenting Plaza +ART's next Evening of Art scheduled for Monday, Oct. 20. All are invited, and the event is free.
Each of the artists will speak about their work and love of art at 7 p.m. that night at the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center, 2525 W. Taylorsville Blvd. Please email plazaart@taylorsvilleut.gov to reserve your spot. The artists have also generously donated some of their own artwork for a raffle in support of the Plaza +ART program. Raffle tickets are only $1 and you can enter as many times as you wish. Plus, Velo Wafel (based right here in Taylorsville) will be serving up free waffles as refreshments!
Following is a bit about each of the night's presenting artists:
Tyler Swain โ Tyler has been an artist all his life. He received a bachelor's degree in fine arts, specializing in drawing and painting. In 2015, he was featured in Southwest Art Magazine as one of "21 Under 31: Young Artists to Watch" and again in 2018 as one of "10 Painters to Buy Now."
He has exhibited his work across the United States and Japan. He currently lives and works in northern Utah.
Tyler was scheduled to present at Plaza +Art's February event, but thanks to Mother Nature sending a surprise snowstorm that night, he was not able to make it.
Organizers are grateful to have him return for this latest event.
Nate Brimhall โ Nate has been a part of Plaza+ART from the beginning, and his work is currently displayed on Centennial Plaza. From Nate:
"One of the things I love about sculpture is the three dimensional experience. Feelings can change
as one's perspective does. Each interaction may lead to new discoveries. The light, time of day, weather and seasons can bring new insights. I love the universality of it. I find my 'favorite' perspective often changes with time."
Ryan Tollstup โ Ryan is philosophical about his art, describing it this way:
"I began wood turning a few years ago as a way to stay grounded. At first, I wanted to make 'perfect' bowls. I was eager to make something worthy. I wanted to fix or hide any and all cracks, holes or other perceived flaws.
