Artist's description of the art piece: "This welded metal sculpture is a rendition of an abyssal sea devil angler fish that is usually found off the coast of South Africa. The angry-looking deep sea angler fish has a right to be cranky. It is quite possibly the ugliest animal on the planet and it lives in some of the darkest depths of the ocean at between 650 feet and 2,000 feet. Their most distinctive feature is a dorsal spine that protrudes above their mouths like a fishing pole —hence their name.
"Their mouths are so big and bodies so pliable that they can swallow prey twice their own size. Female angler fish are usually larger than males. Some of the fish can reach up to 4 feet but are typically smaller than 1 foot in size. As an artist, I enjoy replicating some of the fascinating creatures that God has created, and I love spending time in the ocean so marine animals are particularly fascinating to me. I hope you enjoy Archie."
