Artist: Jeannine Young

Artist's description of the art piece: "This sculpture was a commission for a women’s organization. While struggling with an arm, I looked up at her and said, 'You are a complicated woman!' The description worked as a title, as all women are complicated."

Artist's bio: Jeannine Young is a native of Utah. She studied art at Utah State University and the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Her work has been featured in Southwest Art Magazine, Sculpture of the Rockies, Utah Painting and Sculpture and is found in municipal and private collections across the United States.

She offers this statement about her work and love of art:

"Over 20 years ago, I welded my first female figure out of steel. Since then, it has been fascinating to explore ways to capture movement, emotion and the femininity of the female form with straight lines, angles, flat planes and texture.

"I am drawn to the strength, flexibility and luster of metal. As I work, cutting, hammering and welding, the personality of the subject emerges. I strive to impart a sense of inner strength and grace in my sculptures."
