Artist's description of the art piece: "My artwork has always focused on old photographs. For this project, I worked with the Taylorsville-Bennion Heritage Center to find historic photos from the local area. They helped me locate images of the Barker family and workers with their threshing machine.

"These images capture a moment in Taylorsville’s agricultural history and show the ways people worked and used technology in the valley. The photographs are surrounded by and intertwined with illustrations of local flora and staple crops farmed in the area, reminding us what was here before, what settlers brought with them and the connection to the land.

"Plants included in the piece are sego lily, white Indian paintbrush, yellow arnica, alfalfa, showy milkweed, showy fleabane, mountain goldenrod, red Indian paintbrush and common wheat."

Artist's bio: Jamie A Kyle is a Salt Lake City-based photographer and digital artist. She has been actively involved in the local arts community for more than 15 years and can often be found exhibiting in local art shows and festivals.

Her work specializes in digital imaging, old photography and digital compositions that blend historic photographs, paper ephemera, paintings and other vintage imagery. She enjoys wandering the valley in search of interesting paper ephemera, which she gathers and incorporates into her artwork.
