Artist's description of the art piece: “Beyond Horizons” draws inspiration from the river near Monte Vista, where kayaking reflects movement, balance and discovery. Bold forms and colors influenced by local architecture are woven together with native birds, plants and mountains that connect the piece to the surrounding landscape.

The artwork celebrates the harmony between community and nature while inviting viewers to consider what may lie beyond the horizon.

Artist's bio: Priscila De Carvalho is a Brazilian-born American artist based in New York City whose work spans public art, painting, sculpture and site-specific installations. Her art often explores cultural identity, history, belonging and the relationship between communities and the places they inhabit.

She has received honors including the Pollock-Krasner Fellowship and the Bronx Museum AIM Fellowship. Her public art includes installations for the New York City subway, Richard R. Green Central Park School and New York City Department of Transportation projects.
